Welcome to the only page on this site that could save you a lot of wasted time by steering you clear of typical books that all have similar chiché endings. I have created a list of books that I highly recommend you read. These plots all have a non-cliché plot which I believe is hard to find in today's world. Three of the five books included in this list I have read in my Creative Writing class. I believe that you write what you read. By this I mean that if you tend to read only one particular genre, you will only write fiction in that genre. If you don't challenge and expand upon your reading, the pieces you write won't improve either. Hopefully at least one of the books listed below will catch your attention so that new insight, variety, and style will be added to your writings.
Title: Peace Like A River
Author: Leif Enger
Peace Like A River will leave you wanting more at the end of every chapter. The book starts out with the main character, Reuben, and his family getting attacked by the local trouble makers because Reuben's father stopped them from hurting a young girl. Throughout the story the family keeps getting targeted until Davy, Reuben's older brother, murders one of the attackers. Davy flees town and it is up to Reuben, his dad, and his little sister, Swede, to find him. The story ends with an unexpected twist. I rate this book 3.5 out of five stars.

Title: Psalms
Authors: David, Asaph, the sons of Korah, Soloman, Heman, Ethan, Moses, and other unknown authors
War, victory, pain, and love. These are just some of the things you will learn about while reading Psalms. Most of the 150 chapters of the book are poem or songs written to God. There is no real plot throughout the book, but it is an amazing collection of inspirational poetry. I rate this book five out of five stars
